Cllr Liston pointed out that according to the constitution appointments are until the AGM in May 2002 when they must be re-selected.

One vice-chair must be elected, St Andrews has however chosen 3 over many years. Cllr Liston asked how many were to be appointed this session?
Donald Macgregor suggested that just the necessary minimum of one be appointed pending any overall restructuring decided on by the new council. Ian Goudie spoke for the long-standing practice of appointing three, citing the tactical/moral advantage 'vice chairs' have when speaking at consultations, public enquiries etc.

Former convenors of the main committees gave brief introductions to the type of work undertaken so that new members in particular could exercise a slightly informed choice.
No powers were delegated.
Meeting decided to appoint a number of representatives to cover meetings due immediately and added an omitted item.
