Royal Burgh of St Andrews Community Council

This site has been mothballed!

From October 2005 the community council’s site is at www.standrewscc.net.

www.louisxiv.demon.co.uk/standrewscc will be kept on line for a while for historical links but not updated.

Meetings

Meetings of the community council are held at 7pm on the first Monday of the month (sometimes the second Monday in January), in the Burgh Chambers of the Town Hall, Queen’s Gardens, St Andrews.

The public are welcome to attend and there is an early part of the meeting for people to speak on matters relevant to St Andrews. If you want to do so it will be very helpful if you contact the Secretary beforehand so he can arrange a slot for you, put it on the agenda, etc. etc.

To contact the Secretary, Pete Lindsay: email secretary@standrewscc.net.

Other Links

Here’s the community council’s old Constitution, which needs to be revised to meet the requirements of Fife Council’s Scheme for Community Councils – the overall set of governing rules. The Scheme can be downloaded as a Microsoft Word .doc from Fife Council’s Fife Direct site, with a bit of searching, or click on this download link. Finally here are the Standing Orders for our meetings.

Largo Road Hospital Site

The majority of the community council believe that the proposal to site the much needed new hospital and health centre just off Largo Road on the southern border of the St Andrews is not in the best long-term interest of the town. Here are our arguments. We understand that the application will be considered by Fife Council’s East Area Development Committee on Tuesday 27th September. Write to your Fife Councillor NOW if you have an opinion (even if you disagree with us) – the St Andrews Fife Councillors are listed on the Community Councillors contact link below, and are emailable at cllr.forename.surname@fife.gov.uk.

Newsletter

April 2005’s newslettter is titled Chaos in St Andrews. It covers what the community council as a whole, unusually, see as threats to St Andrews from Fife Council’s Structure Plan, Local Plan and also from the Fife Health Board proposal to build the new hospital on the southern boundary of St Andrews, east of the A915 Largo Road.

You can read the newsletter here or download the full file (.pdf 276KB),

(Fife Council also has pages of related documents for the Structure Plan and the St Andrews and East Fife Local Plan.)

Fairtrade

The Royal Burgh of St Andrews Community Council endorses and supports the aims of the campaign to have St Andrews recognised as a Fairtrade Town.
